Plug Screw Feeder
Plug screw feeders are a clever solution to the problem of feeding compressible bulk solids into a vessel at elevated pressure and/or temperature. The feed material is compessed within the screw casing, forming a low-permeability plug which itself acts as the sealing element.
Chaotech has developed a plug screw feeder for use within our biomass pyrolysis plant. This feeder delivers hoop pine sawdust into a vessel at 1000kPa pressure and with a local temperature of 250degC. We would be pleased to assist in the manufacture of custom equipment to suit other similar applications, such as feeding or extracting solids from gasification or fermentation systems.
